CATS says light rail line will open on time
The Charlotte Area Transportation System says Charlotte’s south corridor light rail line will be ready to open on time.
The city’s first light-rail line will carry its first customers for the first time on Saturday, November 24.
“Major construction is finished and there is some work going on at the station platforms,” said CATS Deputy Director John Muth.
CATS officials say the controversial transit tax vote in two weeks will not have any impact on whether the south line rolls on.
Repeal or no repeal, the south line trains are going to run.
The transit tax vote, however, will go a long way in determining if other train lines are built in the city.

Build it!
If Charlotte wants to be catapulted into the ranks of a functional city its size, we need viable transit to-and-fro. The majority of the citizens of this metro region can afford a half cent sales tax, and should be more considerate of their neighbors, their environment and the legacy of their city.
