Crazy Crochet

March 7th, 2007 · No Comments

Crazy Crochet ScarfI’ve finished another scarf. This navy blue yarn was left over form an afghan I had someone make for me back when I was living in Jerusalem. I bought the yarn and she made the afghan. Anyway, this scarf is going to be a birthday gift for Zohar, Y’s brother. He’s celebrating another turn around the sun this weekend.

The scarf is a box stitch worked in straight rows. It’s also called sometimes called crazy stitch. My grandmother who taught me to crochet makes afghans in a similar stitch but I think she works diagonally. She didn’t have a chance to show me her secret when I was in North Carolina last time. We’ll save that lesson for the next trip. Anyhoo, I used Andrew Burton’s tips to finish the scarf and I am happy with the way it turned out. It’s a little stiff but I think I know what to do next time to remedy that.
