One of the symbols of fall here in Israel is the pomegranate. This fruit is used both at Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot but you should ask a real Jew about the religious associations. I use this fruit in salads because I like the kick the seeds provide in both color and taste. Plus they’re super healthy:

So the other day I was eating salad with lunch and I looked down and saw bright red splatters all over my white shirt. At first I had no idea what it was. Was I bleeding?! Then I realized that it was pomegranate juice that had squirted out from a seed that I squished somehow while eating the salad.
